Abstract: | This study examines the problems faced by children of female headed households, and the
Kunnathukal Panchayat of Trivandrum district is the region of study as the number of Female Headed
Families is high in that area. The study was conducted by interviewing the children and taking into
consideration, various aspects such as age of the correspondent, sex of the correspondent, religion,
educational background, family details, category of the family, residential status, nature of housing,
land ownership details, economic status, occupational details of the family, educstional details of the
family and whether help is available for studies, livelihood details, scholarship details, and security
concerns.
In this research, the researcher focuses deeply on the problems faced by the children of female
headed households. Upon the analysis of data, the findings drawn are ; the children are facing
educational backwardness, financial crisis, lack of social acceptance, social stigma, and feeling of
insecurity.
The results indicate that the problems of the children of female headed households can be greatly
reduced if the Government implements proper schemes for them and monitors that all the eligible
children of female headed households get enrolled. |
