Abstract: | Gay is a homosexual male. They are a group of males who are faced with lot of issues and isolation of the community and social stigmas in the society in day today life. They get marginalised and side lined in the society and the main reason is the people’s perception that they have not change and not widely accepted today. This research aims to study the life experiences of the gays in Thiruvananthapuram and problems they face including that are psychological, social and personal. The content of this research reflects the view of this particular sexual minority in the society. The behavioural pattern of the family and friends towards the gay community is studied and how the society looks upon them are also looked into in this research. The main purpose of this study was to examine the problems gays faced in the society and the isolations. Case studies were conducted and five individuals were interviewed for this qualitative study. It was found that they have been more isolated in this heterosexual society and faced a lot of problems even from their own house members and own community. |
